Transylvania County is called the “Land of Waterfalls” because of the 250 waterfalls scattered throughout the county.

Transylvania County is located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, about half way between Asheville, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina. Whitewater Falls is a standout as one of the highest waterfalls in the Eastern United States. Access to Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park and DuPont State Forest provide visitors with opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, canoeing, tubing, picnicking, and fishing.

You may also enjoy checking out the French Broad, Chattooga, Pigeon, or Chattahoochee Rivers while in the area.
